Xianyu (闲鱼) is Alibaba's peer-to-peer marketplace: individuals selling what they no longer want, alongside resellers and a few professional traders. Prices for used electronics and discontinued items are frequently 30–50% below retail, which is exactly why it attracts foreign buyers and exactly why it needs care.
Listings are asking prices. A Chinese-speaking buyer can usually move them, sometimes by 10–20%. We message the seller in Mandarin, ask why they are selling, request extra photos or a short video, and record what was agreed before paying.
“95% new” means whatever the seller wants it to mean. On arrival at our warehouse we photograph every angle, test power-on where relevant, and flag scratches, missing parts or a mismatched serial number before the parcel moves. If it does not match the description, we stop and come back to you with options.
Private sellers issue nothing. That means no manufacturer warranty, and a return depends entirely on the seller's goodwill. For anything expensive, we recommend buying from a Xianyu shop with a trading record rather than an individual, and paying for the 360° video check before shipment.
Xianyu items carry a 10% service fee with a US$6 minimum, higher than the standard rate — negotiation and verification take more time per order than clicking buy on Taobao.
No counterfeit goods, no items with removed serial numbers, no “replica” listings, and nothing that requires a Chinese ID to transfer ownership. If a deal looks too good, it usually is.
Can you ask the seller for more photos? Yes, that is part of the negotiation.
What if it arrives damaged? We photograph on arrival; if the damage is visible we raise it with the seller before shipping to you.
Do you ship used items abroad? Yes, on the same routes as new goods, with the same customs rules.
